Law students

We welcome applications from law students who are seeking pro bono work.

Your advocacy work can be fitted around your studies as we usually only require a time commitment of half day a week.  We do ask that you commit to this for 9 months so that you can benefit from our training courses and move quickly towards managing your own caseload.

You will have a supervisor but will be encouraged to work autonomously on your own cases. In the first three months you will receive as much supervision as you and your supervisor think you need. Supervision will decrease dramatically thereafter

We greatly value the input law students can bring to our service.

Some comments from previous students we have worked with:

"Having my own cases and being entirely responsible for how to conduct them and for the outcomes was intensely rewarding"

"Every skill I gained through study was put to practical use in my casework. It was such a good learning opportunity to see theory put into practice and consolidate a wide range of skills"

"Best of all, working with Advocacy Plus was of real benefit when I interviewed for my job."

"I was given fantastic support. There was always someone willing to help me"

"I benefited from a flexible workload, which fitted in well with my studies and the autonomous way in which I was encouraged to work was very satisfying"
